Hispanic Baldy 2 Posted September 11, 2011 Im currently on my two week pre-op diet which my surgeon put me on a high Protein, zero starch diet and have a question about pinto beans...The last 5 days of my diet I have to give up red meat and lettuce along with green leaf vegetables and was wondering if its ok to eat pinto beans...I know they are high in protein but have read various threads that say they are starchy and not starchy...Im only supposed to be on a one day full liquid diet the day before my surgery...!!! SKCUNNINGHAM 298 Posted September 11, 2011 A 1/2 cup of pinto Beans cooked (with salt) has 122 calories, 8 grams of Protein, 22 grams of carbohydrates and 1 gram of fat. If you are on a carb free diet for the last two weeks, I don't see how it could include beans of any kind. Sorry about that!
Sammi25 18 Posted September 11, 2011 they are great for some Fiber and Protein but their high carb count kind of negates the positives
wishes 125 Posted September 11, 2011 My pre-op diet was quite similar and my surgeon said Beans were not allowed.
