Hi Livvy, I wish I were from London. I was there last year (during the bombings-ugh scary). What a beautiful country, I'd live in England in a heartbeat! Hmm if I lived in London, I'd be able to get my fav hair care product, I can't get it here in the States! Gonna drag my husband to London/England in a few years...that is where his ancestors are from. Take care!

My husband is from Bristol (but he moved to New Jersey so we could get married).... does that count??

anyway, it's nice to talk to someone on the other side of the pond. None of his relatives over there ever heard of such a procedure. I can't wait to tell hubby that even the Brits are doing it!! Good luck and keep in touch!

Hi

I'm going in for the surgery on 28th August. How long should I wait before I start doing some gentle exercise like swimming or stuff on the walking machine at the gym.

:help: Hi Magical, I've just joined today!! I live in Surrey so that's 36 miles from you. I've only just seen my surgeon and am going to have the surgery in December so I'm currently excited but a bit nervous too. I haven't a clue what the 'milk diet' is because I have yet to see his dietician. Can anyone fill me in on what the 2 week's pre banding milk diet is?

Hi! I am from Surrey and was very interested to see that someone was from Kingston as that is only about 40 minute drive from where I live. I must admit that I would love to have some local support.

I was operated on in September and have had one fill to very little effect. I am scheduled for another fill in a week and a half time. Hopefully this will do the trick. The diet is fairly easy to follow but the Water drinking timetable really throws me as I have always drunk Water at meal times only and never in between. I would drink a couple of pints of water at one meal. Now I can no longer do that and i keep finding i am not drinking enough.

Hope to hear from all of you

Labradoodle:faint: :help: :clap2:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
