I got the feeling

Recommended Posts

Well, I'm at my 2 weeks PO. I've been on regular, mashed up foods (and sometimes not so mashed up) food for a few days now.

Today, I feel like all I did was eat! I really didn't think I would be able to hold this much but I was. Somewhat. I did great all day, being at work is easy because you are busy and not focused on eating. However, after 5 was a different story today. I had turkey Jerky, some chex mix (hey, no judging). A few hours later I had some lasagna. While I was eating the lasagna, I felt guilty as I shouldn't be eating it. I didn't need it, I'd already had my "meal" of Jerky and chex mix. It went down fine, then all of a sudden it hit me. I had way too much. I got the "feeling" that I was beginning to think I wasn't going to get. I had wayyy too much today. The feeling is hard to describe. It isn't painful, just a little uncomfortable. It was just siting in my throat. No pain, just sitting there. Well, I gagged myself and made myself throw up. Yes, I do feel better. And now I know what to expect should I stuff myself again. Much to my demise, I dint feel stuffed. But according to my throat, I was.

I am by no means an expert, since I haven't had surgery yet. I will share with you what I learned from Foxbins on this website, that might help you on the weekends.

She eats on a schedule and everything is measured and weighed. If she is on the 1/4 cup a meal stage, that is what she will eat on every meal on every day. So she never "feels full, vomits, slimes, nothing". She simply eats what was scheduled & measured and that is it. No guessing, no listening to her stomach, no nothing. Therefore she never feels hungry nor sick.

Typing this just made me realize that this is how I feed my dog and that is probably why he is the only Basset Hound in the world that is not fat.:lol:

Foxbins, if I misunderstood you or I am putting words in your mouth/keyboard please forgive me and correct me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
