Question for Post Op Sleevers!

Recommended Posts

I was just curious, if you could've done anything differently in terms of preparing for the VSG what would you have done?

Maybe get more exercise so you're more used to it pre-op?

Maybe started your post op Vitamins early?

Maybe started to get used to sipping Water rather than gulping?

I'm just guessing.

Thanks!!!!

Preparing for the surgery... I would not have changed a thing, I looked into this surgery extensively, and I read everything i could get my hands on and had several one on one converstations with people that gave me great advise.. Just like you are doing now! The only thing post op I would have changes is I truly tried to shove too much food in me... I was hell bent on making sure I would hit my protien level every day and pretty much made myself sick trying to force myself to eat unti my doc finally told me at 4 week outs to "calm down" and only eat when I was hungry rather than trying to force food into me just to hit the Protein level. My doc said in time, once I am healed it will be fine and I will hit the protien goal each day.. and he was right... Trust your doc :D

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
