If you like Atkins shakes...

Recommended Posts

Thanks to the costco thread below I discovered Premier Protein shakes. They have twice the Protein of the Atkins shakes and I may even like them better! They taste about the same but I think they're thinner. It's more like chocolate milk than an melted milkshake. I'm struggling to get the protein in so I'm glad to have something that's 30g and actually tastes good! I highly recommend them!

I think costco has been experimenting with their formula. The first box I bought last June was great. I bought a 2nd box in August and I HATE THEM. They are extremely thick and I have trouble swallowing them down. I understand from other posts that they have switched their formulas but now I don't know if my Costco has the first formula or the second. I tried about five of them from my 2nd box and gave the rest of them to a relative who is on a high protein diet.

I am using the EAS Carb Advantage. Not as much protein, but they are of thinner consistency.

Oh no! I hope my costco doesn't change their formula! It would be my luck though...

Premier Protein is sold at Sam's Club too. They are YUM.

I think for a little while they were thicker but they seem to have corrected the problem. The recent posts say that it's back to the say it was before.

Most people do love the premier drinks. I just bought a new box. They are nice to keep at my bf's house because he seems to eat more carbs than anything else.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
