NikiS 31 Posted September 8, 2011 Good morning and happy Thursday! This has been the longest work week in the history of work weeks – LOL. And for the record I AM STARVING!!! I’m not angry hungry and I’m not hungry enough to mess up but don’t get it twisted… a sista is famished!!! Two things, I’ve lost 5 pounds. I know… that’s sounds impossible for only 2 days of a liquid diet but that’s what the scales is reading. I stopped in my Firm's gym in our basement on the way up to my desk. But these pounds have not come without pain…and I do mean pain. Tuesday night and last night I had the mother-load of Charlie Horses. Charlie stepped into the ring and won the fight – LOL. The 1st one was in the top my foot. It started subtly then got aggressive. The 2nd one didn’t wait for the one in my foot to end before it assaulted me right under my left hiney cheek…yes, upper thigh in the back of my leg. When I reached around to grab the back of my leg, Charlie pulled a double whammy… my arm and my neck. I was punching myself and flipping around in the dark like a fish out of Water. Punch my arm, then my neck, then my leg, then my foot and on it went for what felt like forever but was probably only 10 minutes. This morning the Charlie Horse are gone but I really feel like I went 20 rounds with Iron Mike Tyson. I am soooo sore. BUT… I’m 5 pounds lighter and still hungry!! SKCUNNINGHAM 298 Posted September 8, 2011 You have a great attitude - your sense of humour will serve you well as you go through this sleeve journey. Try drinking as much fluids as possible - it helps stave off the hunger. Good Luck!
HDubSleevery 25 Posted September 8, 2011 Hey! When I had charlie horse issues I was low on potassium. I'm not sure where you are in the liquid phase but you may want to try to blend a banana in with your drink. You could also try going to a Vitamin store and talking to them about potassium. NikiS 31 Posted September 8, 2011 @HDub, that's what I firgured too. My doctor said a cup of orange juice or a banana should remedy Ole Charlie - LOL. Also there are 600mg of Potassium in each can of Slim Fast. Since I'm drinking 4-6 cans a day I would think that would be enough. Today is Day 3 of my liquid diet.< /p>
Coookies 13 Posted September 8, 2011 Great attitude ... a note... to help prevent muscle cramps and spasms, you need to increase your potassium.. the easiest way is to pop a potassium pill or 2 a day... that's what i do... or you can add a banana into your shake or whatever you are drinking... When you drink too many liquids, your electrolytes get out of whack, including your potassium.. thus the cramping... Good luck!! **oops... yall posted while i was on another page.. but same idea
Raine 170 Posted September 8, 2011 Iron Mike ain't got nuthin on a Sleeve Sista! So says me! LOL
LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted September 8, 2011 Like everyone else, I"m suspecting you have knocked out your electrolytes balances. This is not only potassium but Calcium and magnesium as well. Try adding in more zero calories sports drinks, or like Stary mentioned, take them in pill form. I do every single day. I know when I forget because I immediately get muscle cramps. Good luck!! You're really doing fabulous!!

LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted September 8, 2011 Lil Miss Diva, How many pills a day do you take???? Tracy w. First thing in the morning: sublingual Vitamin B-12 - 1x per day (1 total) calcium citrate plus Magnesium - 2x per day (4 total) > I take the second dose before bed. Vitamin D3, 5,000 IU - 1x per day (1 total) Potassium, 3% RDA - 1x per day (1 total) With Breakfast: Multi Vitamin plus Minerals - 1x per day (1 total) Ferrous Sulfate (Iron) - 1x per day (1-2 total) One hour before dinner: Calcium Citrate Lozenge from Bariatric Advantage (I forget half the time!) Omega 3-6-9 (4x per week or when I remember) Before Bed: Last dose of calcium citrate, 2 Pills Biotin, 2,500 mcg That is a lot, but it has kept me healthy with all of the rapid weight loss and my hefty workouts. There are a lot of vitamins/minerals in all Protein shakes too! In time I plan to reduce the amount I'm taking, especially one dose of Calcium and the biotin as well since my hair loss has stopped, finally.

I use to get awful muscle spasms (charlie horses) in my feet, calves, and yes the leg muscle attached that goes all the way up to the buttocks because of woking long hours setting at a desk without getting up and stretching for long periods of time. I now take an OTC supplement with Calcium, maganesium, and zinc in it nightly. I seldom have any muscle spasms now. But I do get them when I forget to take my supplement. And make sure you are drinking enough Water. Hope that helps!

SeattleSue 25 Posted September 11, 2011 Two words for ya.... SALT LICK Bahahahahahaa Sorry but I'm going with "laughing with you, not at you" on this one!! Hope it improves. I say salt, which is part of what Diva is surmizing with the sports drinks and electrolytes! It should do the trick...if it aint potassium, this would be my next step. NikiS 31 Posted September 12, 2011 @SeattleSue, when I told my mom and my sister about my crampy night they both were hysterical! The next morning while riding the train to work, I started out chuckling and before I knew it I was cracking up. People probably though I was crazy sitting by myself laughing uncontrollably but if only they knew. You said you were laughing laughing with me but I was laughing at myself. That's why I said it's funny now but it wasn't last night - LOL. I think it was a lack of potassium. Even though I'm on the liquid diet I ate a banana and that seemed to do the trick. I ate one the next night too just for good measure. Keep smiling, Niki
