How often do you take measurements?

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I hit my 2 week mark today and I was wondering if I should do my measurements again. I didn't do it before I started my liquid diet, just the night before surgery.

I'm just wondering if anyone else does them at 2 week intervals (and if there's actually movement in a short interval like that) or if it is better to just do it monthly.

Thanks!

I record mine every two weeks. I was 7 weeks out yesterday and for weeks 0-2 I lost 6", weeks 2-4 I lost 7.5", and weeks 4-6 I lost 2.5". That's 16" in a month and a half!

I think doing them every two weeks instead of monthly gives a little extra motivational boost because there's been times that the scale just won't move!

I'm really bad about sticking to a given schedule. I told myself about a month ago that I would start measuring myself weekly just so I could see the movement over time. Well, I should have known better, I'm just not good at making sure I do that unless it's something super important. Not that this isn't important, just that it's a choice. So for me, I only do it when I'm in a stall and need encouragement. I measured myself right after I started my pre-op diet. Then twice since surgery. I'm almost 3 months out and as of 8/29/11 I had lost a total of 26.5 inches. I think I've lost more since then because my shirts are even loser on me now. Anyways, just my 2 cents!

I take my measurements monthly - on the first of the month. I kind of make it a pampering kind of thing - take either a long hot shower or soak in a tub - get rid of the hair on my legs and underarms, cream my entire body - then mesure and record on my tracking spreadsheet. Once that is all done and I am dressed with makeup on - I take a picture for my records.

Occasionally - if between measuring times - I notice some body part seems to have shrunk - I might take an interim measurement - but I don't record it.

Though it's been a few months now, I normally do it on a monthly basis. In the beginning I was doing it every few weeks. I would also record them and match them to the month or weeks prior to watch the inches melt away.

Do it at least monthly and at most bi-weekly and you will see a difference in one place or another. Also, measure all your body parts, like arms upper and lower, thighs and calves, ankles, wrists, neck... all that!!! It's such a great tool, especially when the scale is being greedy. :D

Yep, I am a mthly measurer too... I find it really useful, especially when the scale isn't moving much!! It is good to see the numbers come down as the clothes feel looser! I am with Diva on this, I take a range of measurements and then, somewhere, there will be a difference!!

I haven't done it at all. :) Kinda wish I had, but I figure I'll just wait for my clothes to feel looser.

I also started the day before my surgery, and I've been doing it every two weeks. My one month surgiversary is tomorrow. I've lost 16 inches so far. :)

I took my measurements a few days before my surgery. I have taken them every two weeks so twice more now since I am 5 weeks out, and I have lost a total of 13 inches overall. I measure my neck, chest, hips, right thigh and left arm. I made a spreadsheet to keep up with it and I log some of them into myfitnesspal.com. I have lost 25 pounds so far and that is 25% of my weight I need to loose! I am already a quarter of the way there!!!!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
