How easy is it to stretch out the stomach after a sleeve?

Recommended Posts

I am getting better at eating. I don't throw up at every meal most days. My family is very good at telling me not to eat big bites or too quickly. When they think I have eaten enough they tell me to stop. They tell me they don't want me to stretch out my sleeve. I don't eat more than a 1/2 cup of food at any meal. I don't want to stretch out my sleeve. How easy is it to stretch out the stomach after having a sleeve? I worry in 6 months and more I will go back to eating like I did before the sleeve. Thank you for your input.

Is your body telling you to stop? I hiccup when I'm full. Listen to ur body. If that doesn't work u may have to count your calories.

It's not easy to stretch out your stomach but you can fill it with foods that won't make you feel full. Are you measuring your food? You should not be vomiting at all if you are eating slowly, taking small bites, not drinking with your meal, and eating less than your stomach can hold. At 4 weeks out I could not have eaten 1/2 cup of dense Protein. I could eat 1/2 cup of Soup.< /p>

My plan tells me no more than 1/4 cup right now - I can do about 2 tbsp of solid Protein and that's it. I can easily eat 1/2 cup of Soup because of course it is mostly broth or liquid. I can do the same with a yogurt or pudding. So I guess it all depends on what you are eating.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
