Tell me about your 1st stall......

Recommended Posts

Hi there! I am feeling very worried!!! I lost at least a pound per day for the first 25 days and now for the last 4 to 5 I have not seen any movement on the scale!! I am about 1 month out. How long did your fist stall last?? Just nervous. I want to hear about people's stalls and when the scale started moving again! thanks!

The 3rd week stall typically lasts about 3-5 weeks. However, mine only lasted about 10 days I think.

Good luck!

I don't think I am at a stall, but I don't weigh myself much to know for sure. I am about a month out and I think I have lost 20 pounds. Most people lose a bit more, but I am happy with my loss. I don't mind a stall because I want to lose the weight a bit more slowly to try to retain the integrity of my skin. I was under 200 when I had the surgery and hope to get down to 130ish.. if it takes a year then I am fine with that.. less questions to answer to all the people who are now focused on me, my eating, etc. Hope your stall passes quickly and that you feel better :)

I hit my first stall this week at 4 weeks out. I am so needing energy and calories not to mention Protein that I don't think I care. I need a break from the sleeve myself to regroup. Wow it has been so much harder than I expected!! I just knew I would be one who didn't have any problem with fluids or Protein Shakes - ha was I wrong!

About 2 1/2 weeks out. I had already lost 36 pounds (with the two weeks before the surgery diet) and it last about 2 weeks. I lost and gained the same 2 to 3 pounds over and over. One morning I weighted myself and I was down all three pounds. Then again at about week 10 or so I had another one. I was down 64 pounds. Lost and gain the same 2 pounds over and over for about 2 weeks.

At 4 weeks after surgery I stalled for 3 solid weeks! It was rough. But the weight loss will start up again. When my stall started I had lost 35 lbs, now I'm at 53. The weight loss is slowing down, but it's staying consistent (for now!), and I'm happy with that. I don't want to lose too fast in hopes of avoiding really loose skin.

Pre-op...I lost 25 lbs. First two weeks post op, I lost another 10 lbs. Then it happened, my first stall! It lasted for about 4 weeks. The scale would NOT budge at all! I wanted to scream! I blogged about how I thought my surgery was pointless! I read a bunch about others having stalls but still believed that in my case, it would never end! Then, after the 4th week of the nasty stall, I started dropping again. Within a week and a half, I lost another 15 lbs. Then I stalled again! So quick ... ugh! But this time, I felt like it might just pass once again. Finally, about 8/1/11 or so, I dropped another 5 lbs. over a 2-3 day time span. And now, I'm in the mist of another stall! My surgeon's office said that it would be like a staircase, you go down a step (or a chunk of weight), then you'd stay right there for a while. Then all the sudden, you'd take another step down (or another chunk of weight off). I'm now almost 3 months out (in about 2 more weeks) and have lost 55 lbs. which is more than my 3 month goal which is a loss of 35% of my excess weight (52.5 lbs.). So I think I'm doing pretty good considering!

You are doing excellent, and your losses are spot on and very normal. :)

My stall started in my 3rd week and lasted 3 weeks. It wasn't fun AT ALL, but the losses have pretty nice since. Hang in there! The scale will move again :)

Man am I happy to hear that these long stalls are normal. I knew there would be stalls but I was thinking more like a week at a time... I lost about 20 pounds pre surgery and about 20 pounds in the 2 weeks after surgery. Then I stalled. The scale just started this morning when I weighed myself. It hasn't moved in just about 2 weeks until today. I have been going CRAZY wondering what is wrong with me. I am working out (about a half hour cardio and about a half hour weights) and can barely eat a thing. I haven't cheated or done ANYTHING wrong, so I was really starting to get a bit depressed about the stall. Thank God it's over, and at least now I know what to expect the next time!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
