JenniLee0628 3 Posted September 7, 2011 I am getting sleeved on 10/4 but had a question post surgery. I have had arthritis since age 2 and usually get massages to help circulation, etc. I wasn't sure if anyone knows if and/or how long we need to wait to get a massage after surgery? Rootman 1,101 Posted September 7, 2011 I would think that there should be no reason to immediately start just after surgery, as long as you are up to it. Lying on your stomach may be an issue though. Just have them stay away from your stomach area with the massage for a few months.
emmas mom 4 Posted September 8, 2011 I am 3 weeks out and still not comfortable sleeping on my side, I cant imagine laying on my stomach at this point. It might be in my head to, but, I still have some soreness in my muscles and my big incision site. good luck
EJStorm 13 Posted September 8, 2011 I got my first massage 2 weeks after surgery. No problem laying on my stomach, but I was sleeping on my stomach just a few days after surgery. I've found that regular deep tissue massages have been a God send in moving out the toxins that the emptying fat cells are leaving behind.

stephanie1678 80 Posted July 23, 2013 If you have symptoms of a clot or a family history of clotting problems, it would be wise to check with a doc before getting a deep muscle massage after surgery.
moni7744 0 Posted July 23, 2013 i got one after 2.5 weeks. I can't lay on my side, but being on my tummy didn't hurt and it was awesome in relieving all the other sore muscles I had
