Hungry 8 days post op?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. Idk if its all in my head but I have been sooo hungry and I'm 8 days post op. Is this normal? Did anyone else feel hungry after their surgery? I feel like there's something wrong with me. If anyone can let me know their experiences that would be great.

I just started getting hungry at one month post op. Wouldn't it be nice to not feel hungry? It is very freeing to concentrate on all that life has to offer besides food and when the next snack is! I have found that eating small meals every few hours helps A LOT!

Good luck... hunger sucks

Hugs

yes its normal because the liquid just goes right through. when you get to mushies you will feel full real fast.

I was hungry from just a few days post-op. I was on full liquids then, but still felt hungry. I'm 2 weeks out now and got advanced to purees yesterday and it has already made a huge difference.

Plus, make sure you are taking a PPI (Prilosec, Nexium, etc). It slowly helped my hunger go away, but getting to eat a full variety of foods again (albeit pureed) has made a huge difference, both in my actual hunger and my 'head' hunger. Just hang in there, it will get better.

Hi everyone!

I really feel hungry or empty most of the time, and even after eating. I've fed up with my weight lose progress. In week 9 I've lost 27 lbs.Decided to restrict my carb intake so seriously- 20 grams daily. I appreciate any advice.

I've just had mine done (5 days ago) and ive noticed that i dont feel hungry at all, unless i see or smell food.. Therefore i take that to mean, its only psychological hunger and not physical hunger.. I dunno whether ur surrounded by food alot, but that might be an issue? hope it helps

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
