I'm Al, married to a retired Air Force vet (Lori) and then again I too am a retired Air Force vet. We live in Olympia WA and I got my sleeve done at Madigan on Ft Lewis (JBLM) Jun 7th. I'm civil service working on McChord Field for the Air National Guard. Gained over 200lbs when I retired from active duty, so now I need to loose all of that (and then some) so I can have a healthy retirement with my spouse.

Hello my name is Sharon I've been a Military wife for almost 18 years,my husband is an active duty Marine stationed at MCAS New River in Jacksonville NC. After struggling with my weight for the last 10-15 yrs becoming a diabetic, getting high blood pressure, looking 9 months pregnant all the time and carrying all my weight in my belly and hips, having a BMI of over 37,dieting,taking medication, exercising, cutting calories, watching carbs, etc and even gaining weight my PCM finally put in a referral for me to see a general Surgeon who specializes in bariatric surgery and the lap sleeve. I'm really nervous but excited to see what my options are, etc.

I'm Cynthia, USAF vet and wife of retired USAF. I'm not near an mtf that provides the sleeve, so I'm going to Tijuana Mexico for it, in September. I was originally going to do the band but have heard so many negatives that I decided to pay for the sleeve out of pocket. Where are y'all in the process?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
