Hi all,

Here is my story. Started out at almost 430lbs...lost 45 in 6 month Dr supervised stuff. Lost 10 more with 3 days pre-op liquids and 20 more since my surgery on July 21st. So now I'm at 364 or so. I've been stuck there for over 2 weeks and I'm not sure if some of the things that is going on is contributing. Went off glucophage for PCOS, haven't had my birth control for over a month. I've been drinking Gatorade for my 1st 28oz of liquid with lots of ice (too much carbs or cals?) I know I have eaten too many carbs on some days and then the suckest one of all...can't exercise too much because of fissure (butt pain) at times and an incision that has taken forever to heal! I'm happy with my progress so far but starting to get irratated because it feels like there are so many potential issues...I don't know which one is hurting me if any???? HELP! Thanks guys, Tracy w.

If you're drinking regular Gatorade you probably want to switch to the lo-cal version or Powerade Zero. Also, if you're not tracking your food you should do so. That way when you have a period of no loss you can look at your food history and see what might be contributing to it.

I think we're all in agreement. Try to cut down on sugar/carbs. I know it's tough, but you're tougher!! :)

Hi Tracy,

Check out www.fitnesspal.com

It's a great place to track your food to find out how many calories/carbs/fat/protein you are getting. It's eye opening.

Remember, any carbs you don't burn off will store as fat. Hang in there and try to eat more Protein and less carbs.

Protein aids in tissue healing as well. You can do this...one step at a time. God bless...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
