Catracks 865 Posted September 7, 2011 I came here to say the same as all the rest (you look 30 years younger, etc.). One more thing: In the before picture, your eyes looked dead. I'm serious. Now your eyes absolutely sparkle!!! Wish me luck. My first appointment with the surgeon is Sep. 20th.

wkeller818 9 Posted September 20, 2011 Hello all! I haven't been on here in quite some time. But I wanted to drop a hello for my one year anniversary of getting sleeved. It has been an incredible journey. I did have a complication that was made more serious due to my own stupidity. I developed an infection that led to a leak in my zipper line. It would not have been as bad if I didn't wait almost a full day to go to the hospital. Without getting into too many details I almost went into cardiac arrest and had my organs completely shut down on me. I spent the next two months in the hospital. OK now that the scary part of the story is out of the way, I am here to tell you I would do it all over again. In one year I have lost 255 pounds!!!!! I went into surgery on Aug. 30th weighing in at 505 lbs. I weighed in today at 250 lbs. I have never felt so good in all my life. I am at the gym three times a week and am eating pretty much anything. Carbs fill me up really quick though but I am nowhere near as hungry as I used to be. I get filled very quickly. As long as I listen to my body and don't eat junk all the time the weight comes off. You can treat yourself every so often, but I dont feel deprived or hungry. I will cut this short now, but if anyone has any questions feel free to ask. My only regret is I didn't do this sooner. How long after your surgery before you got the infection, and what were the symptoms you ignored?
longer-life 139 Posted September 20, 2011 Keller (sorry forgot your name and can't go back to see it. The original poster answered on page 1. See below. My symtpoms were SEVERE fever (103.5) and I was shaking and shiver quite violently. I was also a bit nauseous earlier in the morning. I was told to go to the hospital immediatley but I just took a bunch of tylenol and went to sleep ($%^#@$ IDIOT!) That little peice of laziness almost cost me my life. I was a rare case for that complication...lucky me!! lol But the complication wouldn't have been so well...complicated if I listened to my doctor. So for anyone about to get sleeved my piece of advice for pre and post op is listen to your body. It knows when your well and it knows when your not. It knows when your hungry and knows when your full...(sounds like Santa Claus) It was the best thing I ever did. If anyone has anymore questions, feel free to ask.
