Shalon 10 Posted September 3, 2011 I'm a gum chewer, the thought of not chewing gum through the day sucks! If there are any other gum chewers out there, how long after surgery was it before you could chew gum again?
staceybea 0 Posted September 4, 2011 My nurse told me I could chew gum the day I left the hospital (sugar free of course) but she warned that I may experience more gas. I have had gum and the gas is the same either way.
Shalon 10 Posted September 4, 2011 I know the gas is the issue, and I can't imagine I will at the beginning, but definitely by the time I return to work hopefully. Thank you for replying!

I was told to NEVER chew gum. Reason being that if you accidently swallowed it it could plug up the inlet or outlet to your stomach.
DrMommy 4 Posted September 4, 2011 I am a gum chewer and am 5 weeks post surgery. I tried a piece and got terrible gas right away. I'd give it a try and see how you are effected.
