hey my name is Sabrina and I am 5 days post op. I am trying to get used to how my stomach feels but its hard. can anyone tell me what they felt after they got the sleeve within the first week? I just recently developed diarrhea yesterday, is that normal? The gas is not as bad as it was but still when i drink anything my stomach tightens up and feels like i have acid reflux my stomach rumbles and i burp. Im actually really hungry too but im scared to try any full liquids like Soup or anything. I still have my drip bag in my stomach and its getting removed tuesday, can anyone tell me how that feels when its removed? Ive also been a little dizzy/lightheaded and somewhat nauseous. I kno i have a lot of questions but if anyone can help that would be great :)

I had diarrhea which I figured was normal being all I am putting in is liquid. If it concerns you though check with you Dr. The first few weeks fluids took alot of time to get in, I could take about 3 sips and the 4th would make me miserable. I didn't have a phase with Soup other than broth so I can't help there. At 2 weeks I went to soft Protein which is where I am now and let me tell you I wish soup was on the menu because I don't consider tuna soft! I didn't have a drain so no help there. The dizzy/lightheaded could be from so few calories. Also if you are on any meds it is possible they already need reduced - talk with your Dr.

Congratulations on your sleeve Sabrina, it might not feel this way now but your going to be so happy and feel great. The first few weeks are hard so make sure you rest and don't be afraid to call you doctor. Are you taking a ppi for the gas that will help so much. I also felt hungry until I started eating real food, but the ppi may help with that too. I did not have a drip bag. Try chicken broth or even tea, just slowly sip and see how you feel. Just take it slow and you will get used to your new stomach. Besides eating very little soon things will go back to normal. Good luck and feel better, Janine

The diarrhea was pretty normal for me. Fluids in, fluids out. I am on day 18 and I've had my highs and lows so far. I did have a drain in the hospital but it was removed on day 3. The soreness in my abdomen improved greatly once they took it out. It was like whipping off a band-aid really fast except there was no lingering stinging afterwards.

I did clears, full liquids, and I advanced to softs/mushies this evening. Technically I am not supposed to advance until Monday but I don't want my first experience with soft food to be at work! I am taking it really slow.

The sip, gurgle, burp has been pretty normal for me. Usually when I first start to eat or drink something, I'll get a burp. My thought is there isn't much room for gas AND food/drink so I'd rather have the gas out.

I had a small issue with acid/heartburn about 7 days out. I talked to my doc and he had me double to Nexium dose daily for 5 days and quit drinking citrus juices (i.e. lemonade) and the problem has cleared up.

Good luck! It does get better with each stage. The sleeve is definitely a practice in patience.

Diarrhea is pretty normal when you're on full liquids. My surgeon said to call if I was having 8-10 bouts of diarrhea per day but other than that just keep sipping to prevent dehydration.

In the beginning food isn't as important as getting in your fluids to stay hydrated.

I was told that I would have diahrea. In fact the nurse warned me that you may think it's just gas and oops...you get the picture. As far as removing the drain, it does not hurt and is actually very fast. That put a gauze pad over it just in case it leaks a little and by the next day you have a scar. I was never so happy to get rid of something as I was witn that thing!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
