Postop Day 3...can't believe how great I feel!

Recommended Posts

My surgery was Tuesday and I day 3 postop today. I honestly expected to feel lousy but I don't! Ive been walking outside, no nausea, everything has went smoothly. Now, I just pray it continues to do such. Did anyone else feel this good 3 days after surgery? Can't believe it!

I never felt bad at all!! I was a little tired for 2-3 weeks because I was adjusting to greatly decreased calorie intake, but I had no nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, etc that lots of people talk about on the forum. In fact I often wondered if they really did surgery on me. Now at 41/2 months out I know they did because I have lost just over 50 pounds and I can feel the restriction. I'm glad someone else is feeling good like I did. Best wishes on the journey of your life...Kathe

I am a week out, and I never felt bad. I was amazed that the lack of pain/discomfort. I was a conversion from a band to the sleeve. My stomach has been sore, but I was up walking all through the hospital after my surgery and haven't stopped. Returned to work last week and it is like the same ol stuff. I have gotten hungry a handful of times, and am battling my love for food, as the liquid diet has been tough for me. I want more and am ready for substance. I can't quit thinking about food. Is this normal? Currently I am eating applesauce and Tomato soup....and have caught myself eating more than 4 oz.......I didn't think that would be possible.

I felt great too!! I was just sore and a little tired.

Please remember that you did have major surgery tho and take it easy!!! I was walking 2 miles at 5 days out and got into trouble!! So just remember to take it easy and rest even though you do feel great!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
