oknev 4 Posted September 2, 2011 Hi, I am new to this forum and I am hoping to get the vertical sleeve this year! I am currently trying to get financing for the surgery. NOt sure if this is normal but I keep going back and forth with my decision on doctors!!! IT is making me crazy! I have heard good things about both but some more negative about Dr. Almanza. I know things can happen with any surgery but how do you make your decision?? Dr. Almanza has the better price so is that how I choose?? I would appreciate hearing how you made your decision and if you feel it was a good and safe one! Hope to learn alot from all of you! Karen
KellyL 173 Posted September 2, 2011 Hi Karen, It is definitely a difficult decision and one you have to feel completely comfortable with. They both have a lot of patients on this forum so you will probably get a lot of feedback. I chose Dr Kelly for a lot of reasons but I liked the being in a hospital vs. Strip mall clinic. Also Dr Kelly has trauma training. I have nothing negative to say about Almanza, but I can share my detailed day to day experience with Dr Kelly. Its on my profile in the "about me" section. Dr Kelly and Trish are amazing. Their website is WLS4betterlife.com. Good luck!!
kemo46 82 Posted September 3, 2011 It is a tough decision and you just have to do your research. I had my surgery with Dr. Almanza on 5-25-2011 and I am very happy. There are positives and negatives about all choices you have to make, you just have to weigh them out. My blog is www.kemo46.blogspot.com , this will tell you about my whole experience with Dr. Almanza. Normally when you hear anything negative about any surgeon on the forums, it is coming from someone that has no experience with that surgeon and is hearsay. Good luck to you on your decision. peppercma 12 Posted September 8, 2011 I would suggest actually speaking with the Dr's that you are trying to decide between. Having a conversation with Dr. Kelly sealed the deal for me.
