NewDay 0 Posted July 15, 2006 Hi everyone. I am scheduled for surgery on August 4th and have 2 weeks out of work for vacation scheduled. I am wondering about going back to work. I have intermittent heavy lifting to do. I work on a loading dock and have to open and close tractor trailer doors intermittently throughout the shift. I don't want to go back on restricted limitations because a) i really don't want anyone to know b)they can send me home without any pay So, for those of you who are experienced, do you think i could do my job? booda 0 Posted July 16, 2006 I also work on a loading dock and do lots of lifting and my doctor told me to take 6-8 weeks off!
*susan* 1,709 Posted July 16, 2006 In terms of recovery time, I have to be honest, it seems like just about everyone on the board is different. I honestly thought I would have the surgery and be up and around in a couple of days. It took me almost 3 weeks before I really started feeling "normal" again. As far as the lifting, have you talked to your doctor about your job requirements to see what he/she suggests? It is really important you follow his suggestions. I know I was told to refrain from heavy lifting and cleaning for a full six weeks.
