5 months out & lost my way somewhat

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I was sleeved March 15th by the gifted surgeon Dr.Ramos-Kelly. Since then I have lost 90lbs (all post op). I lost 30lbs the first month and average 16lbs a month thereafter (except for one month when I lost only 10lbs).

My problem is that I feel stuck in a rut. For the last month I've been losing very slowly.(I've been in the 170's for almost a MONTH now!)

I haven't been eating MORE food but I admit I've been somewhat lax and been having more sugar treats than normal through out this whole process (butterscotch suckers that are to die for!)

The thing is, I feel like I've lost my way a bit. How can I get back on track? (Obviously stop with the suckers) but beyond that. Like should I start with Protein Shakes again for structure? (I've only been having shakes very sporadically for a couple months now). What's a good way to "start over"?? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks a lot! :)

I don't think you're doing anything wrong, 90 lbs in 5 months is phenomenal!!! You should be giving me advice!! But if you'd like to give us an idea of what you're eating, how much Protein, carbs, Water, I bet some of the vets would chime in with some suggestions. I have seen it said many times, the closer you get to goal, the slower the weight comes off.

I am impressed with your loss and the fact you lost with hardly any stalls!!! That is amazing to me, seems I stall more often than I lose. I would say right off the bat, just to get back to basics, protein first, then maybe some good carbs thrown in. Watch the junk, it really likes to sneak back in. Good luck!!

:)

WOW.. Congratulations - Your weight loss is incredible!!!! Congrats!:D

If you google 5-day pouch test - you may want to give it a try. I have never tried it but I have read much about it and the people have posted how it helped bounce them out of a stall or helped get them back on track with proper eating. It takes you back to liquids like when you first had surgery..

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
