Sutures sticking out?

Recommended Posts

I have a couple of sutures that are poking out from two of my incisions... they are like fishing wire..lol Will they go away? They aren't dissolving and one of them is rather long. Anyone else who went to Dr. Kelly have this? Thanks :)

Hi, I didn't have this with my incinsions from Dr. Kelly but I did when I had my hysterectomy and I clipped them myself.. I just cleaned nail clippers with alchol and made sure everything was clean.. Maybe you could see your Primary doctor and they would take care of them..but I think they will be fine...

Thanks Angela :)

My friend who came with me didn't have any sutures sticking out either.. I'm not sure why I do..lol

I did clip the one last night.. the other is too close to the skin to clip, it just pokes me now and then. I will get it figured out :)

Thanks again

That happened to me when I had my gall bladder out and I spoke to a friend who is a surgeon and she told me to take a pair of tweezers and gently pull on them and they should come right out....however I'm not a doctor so I would ask your doctor or surgeon before doing this!

I had 2 of them sticking out......one I had the surgeon clip when I was there for follow-up. He pulled on it a bit with tweezers and clipped it. The other came off/out when the scab finally fell off that incision. I probably could have clipped it myself, but it wasn't getting in the way of my clothing the way the first one was.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
