HDubSleevery 25 Posted August 31, 2011 It is 3:30 in the morning and my right ear is screaming at me. I think I may have an ear infection. I just took some liquid tylenol and it seems to be working. If it doesn't get better I will go to the Urgent Care center tomorrow. My question is what antibiotics can I safely take with my new sleeve? I know some docs really dont know what to do with us so I want to be informed before I get something that could possibly make this worse. Thanks so much! I don't think you will have a problem with antibiotics unless you can't swallow pills, and then you could have a liquid.
HDubSleevery 25 Posted August 31, 2011 I haven't tried swallowing pills yet but I am going to ask if I can start. I have three small dose capsules that I take at night that I dont think I can stomach anymore.

Tiffykins 673 Posted August 31, 2011 I was on 3 HUGE antibiotics following a 2nd hospitalization post-revision. Cipro, Metronidazole and another that I can't remember off the top of my head, but NONE of them gave me issues except for a little "sterile" gut. My surgeon's recommendation for any type of antibiotic therapy is to ensure you are eating yogurt, or additional Probiotics to help prevent sterile gut. The antibiotics can screw with the "good bacteria' of the gi tract which in turn can cause diarrhea and/or nausea. Anytime my kiddo has been prescribed antibiotics, his peds doc suggests the same thing.
Gaylebco 11 Posted August 31, 2011 I started on HUGE bactrim DS for a infection at my incision site. I broke them in hald and they were still huge..but took them while on Clear Liquids and did just fine. Took them 2 times a day for 7 days. Good luck to you. HDubSleevery 25 Posted September 1, 2011 It is weird but when I woke up this morning the pain was gone. I have some post-nasal drip stuff happening today but no pain. I'm wondering if things weren't just all clogged up? Now that I think about it I went over the savannah river bridge a few times in the past couple of days because of a conference. My ears were constantly popping so it could also have been the pressure there. I don't do well with elevation changes. Or I could just be a freak.
