Well, I have a theory--which is impossible for me to prove at this point. My theory is that if anything is gonna work, you have to start it at least 4 months BEFORE surgery. I started minoxidil 1 month post surgery and started the Nioxin Shampoo and conditioner about 3 weeks ago...and this week my hair started coming out in little handfuls. I started minoxidil 2 months ago and my hair is still falling out. I was not perfect about taking my Vitamins, but I have taken them all along...good quality Bariatric Advantage and Celebrate, Iron, Calcium, D and B12 as well. Nothing seems to have made a difference, I think the only missing factor might be that I started too late. I hope you haven't had surgery yet...because no matter what you try I think it needs to be months beforehand. I'm gonna continue my regimen and will post if and when my hair normalizes.

I don't think there is any good way around it. I take my Vitamins faithfully everyday which include Biotin. Biotin does not stop the hairloss, but it promotes new Hair growth. Plus its great for my skin which I feel has a better glow now and it has done wonders for my weak nails. I am four months out and the hair is coming out in handfuls all day and chunks when I wash and comb. I was lucky to have quite a head of hair, but I can feel it thinning as I now wrap the hair tie four times instead of three. I know this may not be the best help, but I hear its going to get worse before it gets better. Hugs*** your not alone. I think the best treatment is to try to keep washing and combing minimal or be as gentle as possible. Try to just wear your hair down instead of in a ponytail as the hair tie pulls more out. Be good to your hair: no heat like blowdryers and curling irons. Try new conditions and shampoos with volume enhancers to minimize any visable loss. Hope this helps.
