Almost 3 months out and nausea

Recommended Posts

I tried searching, but couldn't figure out the right words to get an answer. I'm almost 3 months out and have had absolutely no issues until this past week. It seems like everything/everytime I eat I'm having much more nausea than I've ever had (really none up to this point). One morning I ate cottage cheese, just like I do almost every day, and immediately threw up. Several times since, I'm getting really gurgly stomach, sweating, and feeling sick to my stomach. This has been going on for about a week. There's no "pain", just nausea. It's making me extremely uninterested in eating or drinking anything.

It's just so strange, up to this point, I've really had such a stellar experience, I'm concerned.

Thanks for any insight and/or advice.

Well I'm not of any help to u but I also have nausea. My deal is that I'm 6wks out and have had extreme nausea since day 1. I can't eat hardly anything and if I eat something like potato Soup I can eat only like 2 tbls of it. I've lost 52 lbs in 6 wks. It is bc I'm starving myself to death but at the same time I've not experienced hunger at all. This experience has been horrible for me, needless to say.

Lol! I don't think so...actually my poor husband was so patient with me so like this last week I finally gave in. So we hadn't done anything until then. I have had nausea way b4 then. My post op appointment is sept 12 and I'm trying to hold out till then to go to the doc bc he is 2 and a half hrs away.

I have been dealing with nausea since week three. My doc is 2 1/2 hours away too. I called and asked what they would advise and he ordered me anti nausea meds. Call the office up and explain what is going on so they can help you. Then that way when you do go in they can do a followup

I am sorry you are feeling so awful!

I have read on here that lots of people have this issue and it is probably something that you ate that your sleeve did not like. They say you should go on liquids for a day and give your sleeve a rest. Give it time to calm down.

If you have broth, drink that, Unjuy chicken Soup would be nice. Just do clears for a day and see how you feel. Then slowly introduce stuff again. Just like we did in the begining.

Good luck on feeling better!

Kelly ;)

Thanks Kelly, that's a good idea. I'll try just liquids tomorrow and see if it helps. And, LOL, absolutely NO bun in this oven!!!!!

I think it may be Iron supplements......I realized that this seemed to start about 3 days after I added an iron supplement. I'm going to try skipping it for a couple of days and see what happens.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
