Thank you Everyone

Recommended Posts

I just want to say thank you to everyone for the support I have gotten here. I don't really have this kind of support here at home. Nobody really knows what I am going through. My hubby and my mom think I should lose the weight without the band, even though they have seen for years that I can't. my daughter doesn't seem to think I should put myself at risk for weight loss. I try to explain to everyone that I'm at risk if I don't lose weight. I shouldn't have told my family members about my surgery as they are the ones who feel free to say whatever negativity they want. My friends on the other hand know their boundaries and act like its ok even if they don't think it is. Oh well, i'm getting banded monday whether they like it or not, and when they see the results they'll change their tune.

Congratulations Terry on your choice to be banded. I wish you much success and a uneventful surgery on Monday.

I can't say that I know how you feel. My DH was very supportive but my mom didn't think I needed it because I am tall and as she would say it "I carry a lot of weight in my height". Well it wasn't just in my height it was bothering my feet and legs and I was just tired of failed diet after diet.

Now that I have lost 93lbs and look like I weight about 160lbs I am happy and even my mom has said how wonderfully I have done. I have about 10 more to go and everyone wants me to stop now but I am doing this for myself and I must continue on until I reach my goal.

Hang onto what you want, they will come around eventually. Keep coming to the boards for support. The people here has really helped me.

It's too bad you don't have the support...it really helps. But, you are doing this for YOURSELF and congratulations on that decision! They will come around; don't worry.

Come here for support!

All the best and good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
