You know you lost weight when

Recommended Posts

When you are no longer afraid (neurotically, painfully afraid) of running into someone from high school or college who knew you BEFORE you got fat.

A couple of weeks ago I was in my hometown having lunch at a restaurant with my brother, and mid-way through I realized I had not scoped out every diner in the place to see if there was someone I needed to hide from, nor had I entered the place with the slightest bit of apprehension. It was a wonderful realization.

This is one of the things I look forward to when I loose weight. No longer being terrified to run into people I used to go to school with. Not wanting to go out for drinks on the weekend because someone I know may be there.

@@IronDruggist, I hit that one this week - so cool!

When a 5 year old crawls up in your lap and tells you you're getting smaller, so they fit better now!

When you have to make holes in your belt for it to fit

I love those kinds of dresses! I can't wait to get that tiny!

I do agility training and competitions with my dogs and the other night I was at a seminar designed to help the humans with their balance, footwork etc. I wasn't sure what we would be doing or how cold the facility would be, so I wore jeans instead of workout clothes. The class ended with 20 minutes of yoga poses, which I had never done before and on one of them I felt a cold breeze "where the sun don't shine" and realized that my pants had slipped way, way down! OMG -- I bought those pants about a month ago!

1) When you no longer need diabetes, cholesterol, or high blood pressure medications.

2) When you realize that you are contributing too much to your FSA becasue you no longer have huge medical bills to pay for.

When you are admiring a dress, in the resale shop you have been frequenting for 6 months, & the sales clerk says "that won't fit you. It will be too big!"

When other guys are complimenting on the way you look...not in a gay way either. I don't know if that's PC to use word gay that way, but nothing bad meant by it.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
