Sleevie Wonder does not like cream soups

Recommended Posts

I was all geared up for some Soup. I wanted something different. I heated up a can of cream of chicken and mushroom Soup. I added some garlic powder, salt, and pepper (my pre-op staples). I took one small sip and my stomach felt like it turned over. sad.gif I tried a couple more small sips to make sure it wasn't just a reflex to something new. No go.

I am fine with warm broth and yesterday I was able to get through an entire Protein shake. I'm not sure what's going on today.

My Nutritionist would say to wait a week and then try it again.

New foods are all an adventure. I remember craving rice pudding in the first 3 weeks after surgery, taking one bite and then feeling HORRIBLE for an hour afterward. I had a really tough time finding stuff I could drink / eat. Just keep trying :-) It will get better!!!

Thanks y'all. I am good with pudding and slowly sipping Protein Shakes. I'll keep pushing through until I get to mushies. It seems like the world will open up and birds will sing and there will be sunshine again when I get off the fulls.

I just started soft foods today, I am three weeks post op... starting on 4. I breezed through week three fulls because I was hospitalized with a kidney stone, extra surgery to fix that so I didnt feel like eating anything anyway! I have trouble with thick things like pudding and thicker Protein Shakes, etc. I tried soft dark meat chicken today and it went down a lot easier! I totally get it when the sleeve says hell no to some thick consistency things! I tried tuna salad today and I could only eat about an ounce of it. It didnt make me sick though... just full pretty quickly. I am waiting to get over this kidney thing and be back to my old self again too! Stay hydrated!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
