Does anyone have a vitamix blender? They are having a sale on them on QVC today and it seems like it would be great for post-WLS. I figured I would ask if anyone has ever used it?

I took advantage of the sale awhile back on QVC and bought the Vitamix. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. It will blend just about anything. If you are worried about its usefulness after the first few weeks of surgery, don't. You can make Soups, scrambled eggs, homemade Peanut Butter, anything. I use it daily as I prefer homemade Protein shakes with milk, fruit and Protein supplement over the ready-to-drink varities.

Go for it. You won't regret it.

Right there with earthchick... I finally got one... I love it. It will liquify anything. And will help you stay on a healthy track after surgery. Definatly worth it.

When I bought mine, they sold out very quickly. I purchased the only color they had left - Red. I was hesitant at first, but actually LOVE it now. A little bit of color is nice :D

An update...I got my Vitamix a few days ago and have been using it at least twice a day. Of course the first thing I made was ice cream for me and the baby out of frozen fruit and milk! Mmmmm it was so good.

I've experimented and made some stuff that sounded good at the time but tasted pretty cruddy. I did make myself a pumpkin spice smoothie that was pretty good AND good for me!

We have had ours for going on 5yrs. It's still going strong.

The hubby calls it the "Too expensive Margarita Maker." ;)

I use it all the time for his Protein shakes, mine, and the kids smoothies.

I do a blueberry/strawberry smoothie with yogurt for the kids. If they aren't looking I will through in a handful of spinach. They never know the difference.

If you go on the vitamix website, they have all sorts of recipes. The taco Soup is wonderful

Happy blending!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
