Unflavored Protein Powder ... Where do I get this from?

Recommended Posts

Today I had my chocolate/peanut butter Protein shake with skim milk. I used to enjoy them ... for the most part. This morning it took EVERYTHING in me to get most of it down. I don't know if I've developed a milk intolerance or if it's just too sweet now? Whatever the case it was a struggle to get each sip down. :( I still feel slightly nauseous and I've moved on to drinking my Water with a splash of lemon juice in it.

I had surgery 8/17 and I'm going to venture into the world of mushy/soft foods sooner rather than later. I've seen posts where people mention adding flavorless Protein to their foods.

What is it and where do I get it from?

Thanks in advance!!!

I found mine at GNC. It is pretty good if you blend it well in yogurt I didn't care for it in Soup, maybe when you start eating chunky things it would be ok in Soup but I just couldn't get it blended well enough.

Good luck and Congratulations on your journey!!!!!

If you think it's milk intolerance you might try Lactaid milk. Does your doctor have you on a PPI like Prilosec, that could also help. If you are finding the premade or flavored Proteins too sweet, you could try the unflavored (Unjury is just one available) with syrups like sugar free Torani or DaVinci; then you can control how much you put in. I know it's really hard when those shakes just don't cut it any more. Good luck.

Syntrax makes a flavorless powder - it's nectar Medical. I've been using that, 2 scoops for 20 grams Protein. I've only been mixing with milk and sugar-free hershey's Syrup though, so I don't know how it would be in food.< /p>

Try bariatricadvantage.com. My doctor recommended I use their products for post-op diet and I ordered 30 days worth of Meal Replacement Protein Powder. I would be very surprised if they don't have what your looking for. Good luck and feel better.

Nestle is the maker of the Beneprotein. You can buy it from their site or Walkgreens/CVS.

I just picked up some plain Isopure Protein powder at the Vitamin Shoppe. $45.99 for the tub but it has 47 servings or something like that. It's not bad. Definitely have to watch it with cold items as it wants to clump. But, I use it in my carnation instant Breakfast for added Protein, my chicken soup(broth), etc. Oh also my sugar free Jello pudding.

I'm not sure if I'm lactose intolerant now

I have been lactose intolerant for years and I am guessing after surgery the symptoms would be the same. It varies from person to person. Colic, feeling bloated & diarrhea are among the fun ones.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
