SOOO Frustrated!!

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 8/17, and have lost 20lbs since the surgery. I have plateau and have bounced between losing 20-21lbs - when I know it's not a whole pound, it's really half a pound. I have a shake for Breakfast, Protein for lunch and protein for dinner. I don't know if I need to add something mid morning and mid afternoon, I've been drinking my Water like I should. I am going to start walking today and after being off for 10 days, I am going back to work tomorrow. I know it's not going to disappear in the blink of an eye, but I didn't think I could plateau so early in the program. Of course I am not going to give up, I am too scared to eat sweets or anything I'm not supposed to, but argh! I know I need to be more patient but it's gone on for the last three days. Ahh!!

Patience my friend ;)

Focus on eating well and getting in your liquid.

Step on the scales once a week at MOST (I should take my own advice on this one)

Stalls are part of the process as you body adjusts to the new way you eat.

I stalled about 2 weeks out, coincided with my period starting (sorry if TMI!). I stalled for about a week and then noticed some movement on the scale this morning. I should also take the once-a-week scale advice but I haven't so far. :) There are lots of posts on here about stalls, all the veterans can reassure you that they all hit stalls and their weight did come off. Hang in there!

I was sleeved in June. I seem to loose a pound or two per wek. Ive lost 40 pounds in 3 months so I guess I am slow compared to others. Dont get dismayed, it will come off.

Can someone help me use this website? I had surgery on the 23rd, and I found this website by searching for why I was in so much pain. I registered, but never have used message boards or forums before.

i am exactly like you. vsg on 8/17/11 was 277 and am down to 255 but have plateau'd for about 2-3 days now. trying like crazy to get in my Water but having issues. am supposed to have my period soon so maybe that's it? we should keep in touch since we're so on track. i have 3 small kids so that's made 'recovery' pretty challenging.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
