7 Month Before and After

Recommended Posts

I have always hated taking pictures so I dont have too many before pictures. I was looking through my husbands phone and ran across this picture from December 2010 which was a few weeks before my surgery so I has to do a before and the after photo was taken about 3 weeks ago. Its weird cause every one says how skinny I am and I dont see it. I know that I have lost weight since the scale and clothes tell me. I can only see the difference when I look at old photos and new photos of myself. I am only 2 pound from goal so I will have to post new pictures when that day comes.

Wow girl!!! You look amazing, way to go! I know what you mean though about not seeing yourself as others do. I need to go dig up some old pics for a little esteem booster.

Thanks for sharing and congrats!!

You look awesome! That's the exact reason I took a REALLY unflattering set of before pics (wearing a tight tank top and spandex bike shorts) so I would be able to easily see differences month over month.

You look great! You have a beautiful hour glass shape. Way to go!

How did you set your goal weight? I still have 35-ish pounds to lose and wondered how you picked your number.

I picked my goal weight based on my BMI and the highest weight to be in a healthy weight based on BMI is 159.9 pounds since I am 5'7". My doctor wants my body fat under 30% and I was at 33% when I weighted 178 pounds so I am hoping to be under 30% when I have my next follow up appointment on Sept 16th. My personal goal is 149 because I have always wanted to weight less than 150 pounds and I know that should put me at a solid size 6.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
