August 31 Surgery Date!

Recommended Posts

Im excited and nervous about my surgery date. Just 3 more days to my DreamLife! Im on this pre-op diet and It is the worst!... I cheated one time, I ate mashed potatoes... But I got back on track. Now it's smooth sailing.

I can't wait to eat something other than applesauce and broth. But thank GOD I've lost 9lbs already, and I know that Im going to loose more. I think Im making the right decision, and I am so excited to be HEALTHY, and smaller... LOL. Now it's just time to:

1. get the house cleaned,

2. pack up my stuff,

3. pack up my daughters stuff,

4. cooks some meals for my daughter and freeze them,

5. clean out the car,

6. pay my bills,

7. oh... and order my Liquid Protein.

WOW what a list. (am I forgetting anything?!?)

Did I mention Im excited?

LOL

If I could get my fat butt up, I'd be doing back flips. LOL

Woohoo! I am excited with you :D

You may want to go easy on 7. Your tastes may well change after surgery.

I myself can't tolerate artificial sweeteners now. No problem before surgery.

I had to get Protein from non fat milk during my post-op liquid stage I hated the carbs, but it was my best option.

Your journey will be unique, but you have hundreds of travel guides here to rely on.

I'm getting sleeved on 8/31 also! We have a similar list of to-dos except my children are older and they can get their own food. :) Also on my list are taking measurements and photos.

I've lost 16 pounds on my pre-op diet and I'm so full of energy - I can't weight (haha!) to see how much more energy I'm going to have when I lose more.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
