Like others have said...this is the ONE place you can come where we completely and totally GET IT!

Embrace it and do a happy dance! (Besides, happy dancing burns calories!)

BTW - I take two measurements - I measure my "belly" - which is what I call the largest part of my stomach / apron. I also measure my "hips" - which is where the widest part of my butt is - and it is (now) just below where the apron ends. I even lifted up the d**n apron to get this measurement early on. I take that measurement to let myself know what my hips would be if I get the apron removed. (I can dream, right?)

DITTO! Glad to realize I wasn't alone in this. In my tracking journal I list: waist, hips, pouch. As in kangaroo pouch since I got the damn thing carrying my little princess and never lost it after the c-section. :)

Thank y'all!

I AM glad to know I'm not alone...I think I may try two measurements and adopt the label "pouch" too! (I hope I don't hurt something lifting it up)

That must be an amazing feeling! We all have had some type of experience that caused us to feel 'not normal' and like some out cast in society! The worse for me was when I couldn't fit into one of the roller coaster seats at Cedar Point. I'm thankful they had a seat stationed outside the ride, before you got in line so you coud see if you were able to fit and put the seatbelt on properly, otherwise I would have gone through the line and wasted a lot of time and been really embarrassed when I finally reached the end of the line. So, it's moments like yours that makes us feel so free and like we do belong in society.

Keep up the good work, you are doing GREAT!

I am SO thankful for this site...and my sleeve! Seriously can't imagine what it would be like to be sleeved but without this awesome place. It's a GREAT combination like Protein AND water!

I am 1 day shy of my 8 week surgiversary...and I'm feeling completely gob-smacked at the number I suspect/hope to log tomorrow for a weigh-in. It's a number I wouldn't have even DARED to "hope for" in 8 short weeks--or just 56 days. The anticipation is delicious!!!

Thank you all for being a part of my journey. In the immortal words of Rachel Scott, you have started a chain reaction!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
