Vanity sizes

It really is true. I worked for years in the fashion industry when sizing was monitored and you were basically the same size everywhere you went - like it or not :-) Now I am fitting into smaller sizes than I ever would have imagined at this weight and while it feels good to fit into a "smaller" size, I know the sizes aren't real so it's pretty much a bubble burster.

Yep this is a cold hard fact!!! Really I should be wearing probably size 14 right now, but alas, I am not. LOL :) It's fine, I mean, whatever. They also didn't have Size 0, 00, or 000 back in the day either, and I'm thinkin I'll probably never fit those sizes.

Matter of fact, the vanity sizing started back in the 70's. Folks like to harp that Marilyn Monroe wore a Size 14... that said, her waist was a 28. In today's so called "real" sizes, that is a size 6. I don't even fit size 6/28... but I'm able to get size 4's on in other clothes.

It's a wacky world!!

Although I am wearing 6 and some 4's, I am really an 8-10 from 20 yrs ago. I just found out Neiman Marcus actually has 2 different sizes actual "classic sizes" and "modern sizes" what the heck???

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
