PamelaAM 16 Posted September 9, 2011 It really is true. I worked for years in the fashion industry when sizing was monitored and you were basically the same size everywhere you went - like it or not :-) Now I am fitting into smaller sizes than I ever would have imagined at this weight and while it feels good to fit into a "smaller" size, I know the sizes aren't real so it's pretty much a bubble burster. LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted September 9, 2011 Yep this is a cold hard fact!!! Really I should be wearing probably size 14 right now, but alas, I am not. LOL It's fine, I mean, whatever. They also didn't have Size 0, 00, or 000 back in the day either, and I'm thinkin I'll probably never fit those sizes. Matter of fact, the vanity sizing started back in the 70's. Folks like to harp that Marilyn Monroe wore a Size 14... that said, her waist was a 28. In today's so called "real" sizes, that is a size 6. I don't even fit size 6/28... but I'm able to get size 4's on in other clothes. It's a wacky world!!
sleeve 4 me 910 Posted September 27, 2011 Although I am wearing 6 and some 4's, I am really an 8-10 from 20 yrs ago. I just found out Neiman Marcus actually has 2 different sizes actual "classic sizes" and "modern sizes" what the heck???
