susoue 0 Posted July 14, 2006 Hi: I am 49 years old and weigh 325 pounds. I have completed all my tests and am waiting for my surgery date. I have been overweight since my childhood and have tried every diet their ever was. I looked into the gastric bypass surgery over a year ago because my insurance would not cover the lap band procedure. The great surprise was in April they insurance company informed me that after July 1st, 2006 they would start covering the lapband. I knew this was meant for me. I am eagerly awaiting my lapband. However, I still have this feeling inside what if I fail with the lapband. Can anyone tell me how they stay away from the junk food, sweets, with the lap band? I'd sure like some comfort on this subject. Thanks.
beachgirl 2 Posted July 15, 2006 I've just been banded for 5 days today so I don't know the answers yet but I do want to tell you that I was scared to death. There is nothing to be afraid of. I woke up and I told the doctor, "Why didn't you put the band in, I really did think they had. I was very sore first night, but had none of the shoulder pain and now in 4 days I was doing laundry, dishes, walking the dog and feeling great. You'll love it. Congrats.
