Lumping Protein Powder

Recommended Posts

Rather than adding the powder directly to the broth, have you tried dissolving it overnight in milk or Water, then adding that dissolved liquid to the broth?

I will give it a try today. Thanks for the help.

There's a certain temperature that you have to keep your liquid below... I think it's 120 degrees? Anything hotter than that, the Protein will separate and rise to the surface and form a disgusting gelatinous mess. Even if you mix it separately and then add it in, make sure whatever you're adding it to isn't too hot. :)

Yep, it's too hot. I've made that mistake with hot Decaf coffee before - UCK!

Let it cool to lukewarm. Also some of the powders seem to be more prone to clumpiness than others, so I've been whizzing all my drinks with my immersion blender just to be safe. While the Protein drinks are pretty distasteful on their own, even MORE distasteful is a big clump of Protein Powder in a gooey ball hitting your mouth when you're just expecting liquid. GAG!!!

You may just need to use a blender because many Protein powders will clump even in cool or room temperature liquids. Whenever I add the Unjury unflavored powder to anything (it's never hot when I add it) it clumps. It just takes time for it to dissolve and unclump - mixing it forever seems to help that. :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
