I think I have hit a stall (just started my period so I'm sure there's a correlation) - I'm not freaking out about it, I know it will be temporary. What I'm curious about is what happens after the stall? I mean, will I just resume slow & steady losing (which is OK) or will I see another big drop like I did week one? I'm selfishly hoping it's the latter, but I'll take it any way I can get it. :)

I have experienced what I feel is true stall... going 2 weeks with less than a 1 lb loss... VERY FRUSTRATING!

My first time was around the 2 - 2 1/2 month mark. My scale weighs in ounces as well as pounds.... the first week I had lost like .6 of a pound, point 6.. not even a pound, the second week sme thing I had lost .4 --point 4.. UGH... The third week, I lost 4.7 pounds.. So for me, if you look at my monthly totals below, I "average" 2 - 3 pound loss each week,, but I would hit the occasional stall..

The month of July was bad... like 3 weeks of pretty much nothing for weight loss, then all of a sudden I had lost 5.2 pounds in a week! I could not belive the scale!!!

Suggestion *** I only weigh myself once a week... and I try to only focus on my monthly loss as it gives me a bigger sense of accomplishment. I read on here of so many people that weight themselves each day or several times a day... I could not imagine the nubmers I would have seen if I did that... I just know what works for me, and focussing on the scale is not it.... the weight is coming off, not as fast as some, but for me - I love it because I know eventually I will hit my goal..

Good Luck, try not to be discouraged...keep focusing on your priorities of protien first, drink your fluids and excercise.

It's funny how we let an number affect how we feel. I have a bad habit of stepping on before I shower. I think I'm moving the scale to the back bathroom. I only "count" Mondays for my diary.

Hi there. I hit a six week stall 3 weeks out from surgery. Also had a period that loong too, on and off. Things finally became adjusted and I dropped 17 pounds in two days. Since then it has been a pound a day or so. It's all good. I 'll take it. The stalls are temporary and will pass. Stick to what you are doing, and when the first pound goes again, up your Water and Protein to stop with any body shock again. Best advice I can give. Good luck and keep up the good work.

Sorry I can't answer your question, but I can tell you that you are not alone! I am in my 4th week post op and I've only lost 1 pound in the past 8 days. I, too, am on my period so hoping that it's just some weird Water retention thing. Good luck, I'm sure it will pass for both of us... hopefully with a big drop on the scale when it's over ;)

I think it depends on the individual. Some people lose a lot of weight one week and then don't lose for a couple of weeks and then lose big the thirsd week. They may continue that pattern all the way through. Mine has been a consistent small amount every week. I have had a coupe of stalls, but they always break within a couple of weeks and I go back to my steady pace.

I think it has more to do with your physiology than anything else.

Good luck - it will start coming off again!

I'm 15 days post-op and I've managed to gain 0.9 lb to offset my post-op 17 lb weight loss. It's frustrating to no end, you'd think that by drinking less than 600 calories a day I'd be shedding pounds consistently- but the human body doesn't work that way. *sigh* I've managed to pack on the pound.

I'm afraid I've screwed my metabolism, and put my body into starvation mode (even though I'm not hungry). I hope this stall (and weight gain!) will end.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
