Is it normal to be able to drink this much?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys n gals

Im a week post op and i can drink a 400ml glass in about 10 - 15 mins . My doctor told me to sip slow and i was but it must not have been slow enough lool.

The doc told me i should be able to drink about 250 ml in 30 mins but i can drink faster than that. The only thing is i burp allot doing that. I dunno if its the nerves or what but what do u guys think?

I have been able to drink lots too! I was worried about it and was told I am fine. The more I could drink the better off I would be.

liquids just run through and there is NO WAY it can stretch your stomach, so don't worry. It is like a funnel just runnin' through.

You will be fine!

Kelly :)

If I eat or drink to fast I often burp alot or even get hiccups...it's my little reminder to slow down!

Hey to be thin.

But do you get these deep burps? I mean we've all burped before but ill get burps that feel like there coming from the very pit of the stomach like i was completely full of air prior to any ingestion of liquids.

I dont know if I would say they are deep, in the pit of my stomach type thing but I can feel the air bubbles coming up and I do some very loud burps, which I never did before surgery!!! Now my hiccups almost hurt sometimes because they are so hard.... it teachs me real quick to slow down with my eating & drinking!! The way you decribe yours, I bet your tummy is full of air before you drink! LOL!!!

Drinking seems to be one of those variables where there can be wide differences between people. I have had no problem drinking, and like you, was a bit concerned that I could put down a 6oz or so bowl of Soup and half cup of juice in the hospital if fairly short order, while my wife, when she had her DS, couldn't drink more than her nominal stomach size (which was a real PITA for her since it meant that her Protein Shakes had to be so concentrated in order to get the requisite Protein in that they were ghastly - big difference between a scoop of Protein Powder in a cup of milk or Water and a scoop in a quarter cup!). So you, like me, should be able to be more flexible in what you drink but longer term means that you will probably have to be more careful in what you drink so that you don't drink excess calories.

Glad to hear others have been able to drink a lot too, I've not had any issues getting my liquids in since day 1. Not too much burping either, but a bit here & there.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
