Phase II diet.. Need help pls with Im allowed to eat

Recommended Posts

Ok.. So I got sleeved on Aug 16th and has been on Phase I liquid diet since then. I am about to start my Phase II diet in a few days and the DR told me that everything I eat should either be soft or mushed. He gave me examples such as; Scrambled eggs, Soft Fish, Tofu, Plain Yogurt and vegetables that are well cooked and mashed or pureed.

I was wondering if anyone can share here their own list of what they were allowed to eat on their Phase II diet or if anyone can share what they actually started eating i.e.; shrimp, seafood etc. I have done some researches online on what I am allowed to eat on this phase but it pretty much gave me the same list.

THANX in advance... :D

I lived on

lentil/ham Soup (pureed) - Cooked veggies inside

chicken Soup (pureed) - Cooked veggies inside

Cottage cheese

Jello

Tillapia

Mashed potatoes did not sit well for me. Tried my first shrimp on my 6 week surgiversary. It was good, ate just one big one.

Oh, here is an AWESOME resource. Eggface is my idol when it comes to WLS recipes and ideas!! http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/08/pureed-foods.html. I also love smashed avocados/guacamole and here is an AMAZING black bean soup/puree that I eat now, before my surgery!!

Creamy Black Bean Soup

1 onion, diced

2-3 cloves garlic

1 Tblsp oil (canola or olive)

3 cans black Beans, drained

1 can Rotel tomatoes (if don't like spicy, sub regular diced tomatoes)

3-4 cans chicken broth (depending on how thin you want it)

1 Tblsp chili powder

1-2 tsp cumin

Salt and pepper to taste.

Saute onion and garlic in oil till soft. Add all other ingredients and simmer together for flavor to meld, at least 20 minutes. Puree soup with immersion blender, or regular blender. Serve with sour cream and cheese, if tolerated, melted in. Later on add some corn chips, green onions, whatever on top! Yummy!!! My FAVORITE!

Oh, tuna and egg salad with mayo/Miracle Whip, mushy. Cream of Wheat with Protein mixed in. You can puree your shrimp/seafood and make a seafood salad. And God forbid, don't forget mashed taters!!!

Baked sweet potatoes or squash, cheddar ale Soup, scallops...

I made chicken and tuna salad but used avocado in it as well as Mayonnaise. IT cut down on the saturated fat but helped it puree nice and mushy and it was delicious.

I made shrimp stir fry one night for the family. It smelled so good, so I took 2 shrimp and some of the broccoli and pureed it in the magic bullet with a little teriyaki sauce and some chicken broth so it would puree well. Delicious.

I live on cottage cheese. My tummy likes it and at 14g of Protein per serving, it's an easy meal.

One night I made eggplant parmesan for the family and it smelled so good that I wanted a taste. I pureed up well. I added some extra grated parmesan cheese to it for Protein. It wasn't the best choice, but oh em gee was it devine.

One night I made goulash for the family. Before I added the Pasta to the meat sauce, I took a couple of spoons full of the meatsauce and tossed it in the magic bullet so the meat got really ground up. I then added some grated parm cheese for extra protein and it was yummy.

French onion soup, puree the onions in the broth, delicious.

Salmon cakes (I suppose crab cakes and all fish cakes really) can be made with little carbs. Yu don't need tons of binders and an egg and a little mayo will work as well as breadcrumbs.

I love the tang of miracle whip but have found that if i use the light mayo with olive oil and a little bit of sweet relish, it gives the same tang with half the fat. I eat this with tuna or chicken almost daily.

Fat free refried Beans....sprinkle some cheese on top and bake or microwave. Season to taste. I spice mine up and then use greek yogurt as a sour cream. It cools down the spice and adds more protein.

I had to stay with the liquids more because I could not stand anything puree/soft/mushy.... I did eat fat free cottage cheese and yogart, other than that I ate lots of Soup that week... I bought the progressive low sodium, low calorie Soups and loved them.... they sat well in my tummy too.

Last night I made Shelly's Ricotta Bake (that eggface lady) and it was soooooo good. I used fancy Giada De Laurentiis Pasta sauce from target so it was extra yummy you should try this!

Shelly's Baked Ricotta

8 oz of Ricotta cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan

1 large Egg, beaten

1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning

salt & pepper to taste

1/2 cup Marinara Sauce

1/2 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese

Mix ricotta cheese, parmesan, beaten egg, seasonings together and place in a oven proof dish. Pour marinara on top and top with mozzarella cheese. Bake it in the oven @ 450 for about 20-25 minutes (best) or nuke it till hot and bubbly. I usually made it first in the oven and heated the leftovers in the microwave.

Thanx everyone... that egg lady is amazing.! I am definitely falling in love with her. Anyways, what about Pasta (spaghetti or fettucini)? What about for Breakfast? I am going on a trip to San Francisco next week and will be staying at a hotel with some friends. Any tip on what types of foods I can order on different restaurants??

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
