decamom 31 Posted September 3, 2011 Menopause maybe??? I am cold most of the time now but I think it's just because I have lost most of my "polar layer". Laura
twoboysandagirl 109 Posted September 3, 2011 I am cold ALL the time now. We live in the desert and it has been very hot this summer. I have spent most of the summer with a sweeter on. Hope you figure out what's going on.
Deakay 15 Posted September 3, 2011 I'm the opposite......I used to be cold all the time and now I'm the last one to reach for a sweater........weird
MINI-Me 196 Posted September 3, 2011 I have another post out here. I am cold during the day (loss of insulation???) ... But having terrible night sweats. Blood tests show estrogen levels are great so not peri- or menopause. Still running tests to figure it out.
MegInNOLA 531 Posted September 3, 2011 I finally got my husband to adjust our thermostat to 78 because I was simply freezing at 75 (we live in south Louisiana, where it's HOT and humid all the time)---even now I have to keep a fleece jacket on the couch because I get chilly at night. I also noticed that I'm wearing sometimes 3 layers to work, whereas before surgery, I would always look for the coolest, least insulating outfit available. I think it's the loss of one's insulating layer and also the fact that your metabolism is running at a different speed. Someone else on the forum mentioned that her feelings of being cold correlated with weight loss; after reading that, I kept a lookout, and sure enough, when I seem colder than usual, that does seem to be the time that I'm losing more quickly. Don't know how or why that is, but I like it. When I feel chilly, I Celebrate and grab a sweater.
WyomingMountainGal 1 Posted September 3, 2011 I've been freezing the last couple of days so that makes me feel good. Haven't seen it on the scale but I'm hoping that works for me too.
SKCUNNINGHAM 298 Posted September 3, 2011 Makingbetterchoices - I don't know when you were sleeved or how much you've lost or your age, but your weight loss will affect your hormone levels. I am 54, had a hysterectomy, am on HRT, and my lone ovary is probably no longer producing much if any estrogen - but during the first six months after being sleeved, by hormones went nuts (see my post about PUBERTY HELL) due to the fat cells shedding their stored estrogen into the bloodstream. My body temperature fluctated during this time along with other lovely symptoms. The good news for me was, it abated after 2-3 months - now I'm just cold due to losing my insulating layer. lsereno 2,525 Posted September 3, 2011 Hey Megin NOLA: Thanks for the tip about feeling extra chilly when the weight is coming off! I will be thankful the next time I just can't get warm and watch for a nice dip in the scales! Lynda
USMCwifeandTEACHER 3 Posted September 4, 2011 Very, very cold all the time now. Like bone chilling cold. I do have low thyroid function, but the tests show I'm normal. Weird.
