when is it suppose to get better?

Recommended Posts

I am starting to get discouraged cuz I still can only eat Soups, cheese, popsicles, etc. I am tired of having the big D. Just had to fly to Seattle from KC and back and it really sucks having to run to the bathroom all the time. When is this suppose to end?

It gets a LOT better when you get to solid foods. Until then, it pretty much sucks and you have to deal with it. Sorry!

I got to start some regular foods yesterday - trust me they don't make the world much brighter. Of course the small amount is what I expected - but when I plan to eat 2 tbsp of chicken and get down 1.5 or think a whole cheese stick !! and only half goes down in my allotted time for eating I am disappointed. I sure feel like if I could have a swig of Water it might make these teeny tiny pieces go down and then I could eat more. I take a nap while waiting my 30 minutes to drink because it sure seems like forever. Am I just a big baby? I felt prepared darn it! And some say oh my third week was my turn around then I read some one say oh yeah didn't get better til 6 weeks or two months - OMG I can't do that! There is no way I can work feeling like this, loopy and ditsy!! I sure hope it gets better starting the 5th week when I have to go back to work!!

The Soups I was eating early on were the Protein soups prescribed for us. They gave me the runs! In fact, most of the Protein Drinks and producsts did and do! I ended with a lactose intolerance which also means "the runs." Once I figured that out, it helped. I stopped the protein soups and made my own broth. The non flavor Unjury powder seemed to help and I found one Protein Shake that did not give me the runs. Recently I've used Ensure, for lactose intolerance. It had many more carbs than others but at lease I am not in the bathroom all day and I feel alot better. I just work off the extra carbs. Hope this helps! All my best!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
