I know she is going push to want to kno what it is! BUT I just came from the doctor y-day and she up my high blood pressure med. For the THIRD time! I know I'm making the right choice! I'm TOO young for this :-( ready for a change!! Please send me courage!!!

You got it!

Legally, she cannot push, but that does not stop some people. (I like to think it's just a natural reaction of concern.) If pushed, just say it is for a medical procedure - that you are ok, but need to have it done. That usually quiets people down.

Let us know how it goes.

All the very best :) You don't have to say any more than you like. Only thing she needs to know is that you need medical time off. You don't even need to say you're having a procedure or anything. Supply your Doctors note and that's that.

I know you feel bad about the three week notice, but you know, that's how medical things are! We can't plan them like we plan a vacation! So don't fret! Good luck and hang in there!!! We're rooting for you!

Hi NM86,

You and I are on the same page. I told my boss when I came in this morning that I'd be taking some time off to have a procedure. His reaction was concern not knowing what procedure I was having so I shared it with him. He just listened, nodded and then said whatever I needed just ask. I knew that I needed to tell at least one of my bosses (I work for 4 attorneys) and I don't regret sharing my news with him. I don't think you should feel obligated to share any of your personal business with your boss. I'm sure your pressure can be affected by stress and/or anxiety. If you have the time (vacation, personal, sick, etc.) go through the proper channels to get the time off and when you feel comfortable then you can tell her...in your own time.

Chin up and be encouraged!

Niki

Yay! Good for you! I could tell you were worried this morning, and now it's a huge relief and off your shoulders! :) I don't have my date scheduled yet, will be in September sometime, but I've told my boss that I need to have laparascopic hiatal hernia repair next month. It's almost the exact same surgery and recovery time (and funny enough, my surgeon IS repairing my hernia at the same time he's taking my stomach, so it's not really a 'lie'!) That way I don't have to act all secretive. I really, really don't want to tell work, or many others, it's my business and mine only (well, my hubby's and close family, too). I know you don't have to give any reason at all for a medical leave, but this way it explains it all, and completely avoids questions. Then, when I start to lose weight rapidly, I will just say I've had a hard time getting back to normal after my hernia repair - sensitive tummy and all. And of course, decided to eat healthier and exercise, yada yada. So happy one more big step is past for you!!

@ Soon2B- yes I feel so much better- my friend joke and said I proly feel 100lbs lighter I won't need the surgery! Lol I love your explanation.. So much easier then explaning!

@Deakay- I love your openness... I will prolly disclose once I'm back-just do not want to hear any negative words before, NOW after they can kiss my butt lol..

Somewhere on here a person suggested when someone ask you how u lost weight say " oh I had the baby!" lmao I thought that was so funny! Think imma going use that!

New Me - Good for you! It really helps when your employer is supportive. I realize they have no legal right to know -- but they will generally accommodate your needs better when you are forthright. In my case the City Manager came into my office and told me to take whatever time I needed - and he would have I.T. set me up with a laptop so I could work from home. What a relief! (I work much better in my PJs than in slacks and a jacket):P

gosh you guys are lucky!!! no one at my job knows I am having surgery! I had to lie to my boss and co-workers because its an elective surgery and they legally do not have to give me any time off since its not medically needed . If i would have told my boss the truth she would not have granted my time off request. (she is a really tough person and boss). I arranged for a contract worker to cover my days and presented to her that i wanted a weekend get away and i have gotten my own coverage so they wouldn't be short handed.luckily i caught her in a good mood and she said ok. I am having my surgery on the 31st and i will have to go back on the day after labor day . lets hope and pray my surgery goes off without a hitch!! :(

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
