HI

I suggest you ONLY try Clear Liquids until things start to work better for you. They should be clear liquids--like beef or chicken broth. Please remember your new stomach is quite swollen and will not hold anymore that food the size of your thumb. So if you can only get about 2 tablespoons of food in then that is about all the food your new stomach will hold for now. It does get better as time goes on. I would suggest about 10 days of nothing but clear liquids. Then move on to 10 days of creamy liquids. Creamy Soups, pudding sugar free, yogurt, cottage cheese. Please remember only about 2 tbs when you are eating.

I hope this is helpful. Sugar Free all Natural fruit popcicles really helped me too the frist couple of months.

If you have any more questions please feel free to contact me.

Suzanne

yep, broth and crystal lite and maybe some Protein Shakes made with skim milk. day 3 was hard for me, starting with day 4 I could notice that every day got a little easier. I am not almost 2 weeks out and am able to get my 6 ounce Protein Shake down in 30 minutes no problem. yogurt I nibble on for half hour as well, just don't have the desire to woof anything down, just eating to provide fuel

I found warm tea to be most soothing. I especially liked all the flavorful smell of Tazo Orange tea (you can buy at store or starbucks) to be especially soothing to the stomach and to the mind.

I'm looking at the after surgery diet that my surgeon gave me (I'm not scheduled for surgery until September 20) and it says for days 1 thru 3: Water, broth (chicken, beef or vegetable), decaffeinated tea, crystal light, diet Jello, or sugar free popsicles.

Whichever you try, I'm sure it will work out for you.

Be well,

Niki

I had hernia surgery and vomited I the hospital on top of the WLS and it hurt to swallow Water. The NP told me I could put ice packs on my chests to help reduce the inflimation. And room temp water was all I could do for days.

Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
