kwikwits 20 Posted August 21, 2011 I was sleeved on June 1, 2011 by Dr. George Fielding at NYU Medical Center in New York City. I am down a total of 62 pounds including pre-surgery weight loss. Initially I had a lot of problems eating. Now I am much better but I can't eat citrus, or fresh tomatoes, or most acidic fruits and veggies. I started getting mouth sores. I have had 3 after NEVER having a mouth sore before. Dentist prescribed topical paste to treat them. Could this be the sign of a Vitamin C deficiency? Has anyone else gotten mouth sores post surgery? Lanette 124 Posted August 21, 2011 I have had both mouth ulcers (canker sores) inside my mouth and cold sores (fever blisters) on lips, my entire life. I have not had any since surgery but I do not attribute the decline to the surgery. Personally, I have never heard that they are linked to Vitamin C deficiency. I have had labs pre op and post op and I am not deficient....so I don't see the connection.
Indymom 132 Posted August 21, 2011 Do you take a PPI for acid? My first few days after surgery I believe I was having excess acid and reflux and had a few mouth sores. My doc doubled my PPI dosage and the sores subsided.

SuperMom 33 Posted August 21, 2011 "deficiencies of Iron, folic acid, or Vitamin B12 (although supplementation with Iron or Vitamins has not been shown to decrease the likelihood of ulcer resolution)" googled it....yep could be....emedhealth or something like that... but it also says stress- and the surgery, even if it went well,.....is stress on a body right?
