Today was my 15th day post op. Saw my surgeon this morning and he said everything looked fine and to go ahead and start my "pureed diet."

Well, this am, I tried a loosely scrambled egg and was able to eat about half with no issues. All day I had my liquid diet such as no sugar added juice, strained lentil Soup, Water, etc.

For dinner, I had about 3 oz. of black bean Soup from Trader Joe's with about 2 0z of cottage cheese, which didn't fill me up, so I had 4 oz. of Tomato juice. I was still hungry so I had a full stick of string cheese and had no difficulty holding it down. I guess, i still feel hungry!!

Now I am worried if my sleeve is going to work for me! I am not sure if this is normal. What do you guys say?

Yes, it's normal. liquids go through your stomach much faster than solids do. Once you hit more solid foods (soft foods/solid foods) you will definitely feel the restriction. Don't panic yet. Stick with the plan your surgeon and dietician gave you and it will work.

Increased acid can also make you feel a false sense of hunger. You may want to speak with your doctor about taking a PPI or changing things around to see if that helps. Good luck!

i was always calling my doctor asking about this same thing and yes it is normal. I would agree with amanda that it's not really hunger but acid and to take an anti acid or ppi. Don't worry once you start eating soft solids or solid foods you will definately feel the restriction and then your biggest problem will be how to know when you are indeed full! It's all a learning process and you will learn and YOU WILL LOSE!

measure your food this early out. Your nerves are cut in your stomach so it doesn't really know when it's full. I don't think you should be eating string cheese either. Best of luck.

In the beginning I felt hungry also, but that seems to pass and after a while your hunger wains. I only fee hunger when I have gone a long time without eating. You might be eating too many carbs. The Tomato juice might be irritating your stomach. I can't have tomatoes for 4 months because of the acid and increased acid production will make you feel hungry. Increased acid production tells your body it needs food. Also the apple juice has natural sugar and will give you a sugar surge and when your blood sugar drops you will feel immediate hunger again. If you stick with Protein you will feel less hungry and it will stay with you longer.

The mushies and liquids slide easier, so you can't eat more. You followed your pureed foods with Tomato Soup (a liquid) It probably helped was the purees right out of your sleeve. That's why you were able to then eat string cheese....er....so I'm guessing. <shrug>

I am able to eat over 1/2 C of cottage cheese and greek yogurt, but last night I tried salmon and could only get down 2.5 ounces and was tight and full. You'll feel more restriction with the more dense foods.

Not to sound weird or anything, but this statement you put at the end doesn't sound good. You have to stop and "listen" to your tummy, is it truly hungry or is it head hunger? you will battle head hunger for the rest of your life, it's tough to get rid of, but this is where you'll either fail or pass. . . you must be stronger then the head hunger, you MUST control your body, not your body control you. . good luck and you'll do ok. . . liquid stage is tough, but necessary for healing. . . you'll feel better in mushy stage. . .

I am doing well, no complaints, but I seem to have hit that early stall early. Grrrrrrrrrrr. I've weighed the same for days and days.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
