MelindaK 0 Posted August 18, 2011 Hello everyone! I am new here and tenatively scheduled to have surgery on Oct 3 with Dr Ponce de leon. I am very excited, very nervous, etc. My biggest concern is that we are new to the area and there are no doctors accepting patients here. We are on a waiting list. I know they do an EKG before surgery. I don't have any known problems, but being so overweight for so long makes me wonder and worry that something will come up and I will be sent home without surgery. I cannot afford to pay to fly from Canada and not get the surgery, plus I really want it done. LOL Does anyone know of anyone who ever had issues with the EKG before surgery in Mexico? Thanks! Hi, as you can see.... I am extremely overweight and have been for years. My PCP did some tests on me and my EKG came out great. I too didn't want to come back without surgery so he ran all the test that Dr. Almanza will run just to be sure. Good luck and hopefully you'll get it done before you go. PhatGurl80 26 Posted August 27, 2011 I would agree with Fendo . Get that stuff done on your own if not for.peace of mind. My doc actually did have some concern over my EKG so she sent me to a cardiologist. The cardiologist told me my heart was fine but just didnt read accurately because of all the fat! He ended the appointment with telling me I should lose some weight. Go figure! Well I have all my testing results ready to take with me to Mexico. So if u can try to get pre-op tests through your PCP. Good luck on your journey!
HDubSleevery 25 Posted August 27, 2011 I haven't heard of anyone getting denied, but I agree with everyone who says to try to get tested at home. It will help ease your anxiety about it if nothing else.
