After reading some of the threads, I understand that it is for Vets. It doesn't hurt to prepare though right? 1 Year for me is right around the corner...... Gotta read up if I ever need to use it. Also I found the links. :)

265 pre sleeve. 150lb 8 months later. Now two years out and unfortunately back to 200. I'm so mad at myself for letting this happen n It's so out of control I have no idea how to get back to that 150. Such a shame

So others may learn from your experience, what do you believe were the factors for your 50 pound regain? Have you been able to stop doing whatever it is you were doing? Have you checked out the 5:2 plan? When following the basic guidelines, do you feel restriction? Do you track everything you put into your mouth? I guess the real question is, what are you willing to do?

Thanks you for having the strength and courage to come back and post your situation. Many have come and done the same before you, you are not alone. I gained 22 pounds before I found the system to turn it around and get to goal. You can too. For me it was those things that Pdx mentioned above... log everything I eat every day... use every tool at my command, fit bit, MFP and the 5:2 protocol (you can find info on that in the Vets forum if you are interested) I can not depend on my senses to steer me towards the right food or amounts, so I HAVE to write is all down every day whatever I eat good or not so good. I found 1200 a day plus eating back part of my exercise calories (between 1200-1600 a day) and using a semi fast on two days a week... 500-600 cals on those days. No drinking with meals or after, keeping the Protein up, Vitamins, lower carbs. For those days/weeks where we get off plan for whatever reason, keep a bounce range that will trigger a stricter plan to get back in line before the pounds really rack up. It is harder to lose further out than earlier out after WLS. You are not alone!

It's so out of control I don't even know how to explain it but I suppose ill start by tracking my calories but I gave up so bad that I do not even know how many calories I'm supposed to b taking in. It's like I erased the first yr post surgery out of my mind n totally gave up. I think I should maybe go back to my surgeon or nutritionist I saw two years ago. Thanks.

Statically, the most regain happens at 3 years post WLS.

You are still in the "honeymoon" phase of the process at 6 months. It does get harder later on when you can eat more, you may be board of the process, and hunger may return. You have lost 5 pounds in 6 months?.... do not take the sleeve for granted, and really get those good habits to stick now, you will need them even more later.

This is such a hard journey for all of us.... I the first year, I thought I had it made. I was so success. Now over 2 years out I have had to look at my weight gain and get back on track with tracking my intake of food, weighing on a daily basis and re-establishing that "yes, I am a sugar addict." when I eat sugar, even just a bit, I will gain weight. It so sucks at times....But I did gain about 6 lbs and as I stopped the sugar intake by closely monitoring all processed foods for sugar, corn, soybeam oil, or any other hidden sugar name. I am also following the 5:2 diet plan and am getting back to my goal.....It's hard and I get so tired of it and then my old pattern of junk enters the picture for just a second, and I'm a goner.... So now I'm using my positive self talk of "I'd rather be healthy and thin than carry on all that extra weight again." It works for me right now and plus I have reverted back to my old habits from the 1st year which is: eat Protein first, veggies, little to no bread or tortillas, no Pasta, no rice and eating organic.... This is my life style now. Eating out I eat pretty clean too. So I can not revert back and give up on myself.....I don't want anymore surgeries unless it's a plastic surgeon for my excess skin. :P

I haven't gained.... I am currently doing 1200 calories per day and use MyFitnessPal app to log EVERYTHING I eat. I think it would be hard to gain too much if I stick to this plan. Since moving to my healthy diet phase, my weight loss has been about 3-4 lbs per week.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
