Tarada9 1 Posted August 16, 2011 Everyone's doctors' guidelines seem to be different and I was wondering how many weeks post-op some of you were told before you could start soft/mushy food stage? I was told 1 week clear liquid, 2 weeks of full liquids, and 2 weeks of soft foods, then starting 6th week I could slowly reintroduce regular food. Wondering what guidelines others were given and how they tolerated them?
NewLife2011 13 Posted August 16, 2011 Dr Aceves has 10 days clear liquids, 10 days full liquids, 10 days soft/blended foods, then solid food.< /p>

Adri 40 Posted August 16, 2011 Mine was: 1 day clear liquids 2 weeks full liquids (protein shakes) 2 weeks pureed/mushy foods 2 weeks soft foods Then "normal modified diet". Basically everything except very fibrous foods: raw veges, popcorn, nuts. I'm at week 11 now and the only thing that has made me slightly sick is eating too much salsa/raw Tomato.< /p>

Indymom 132 Posted August 17, 2011 Dang my doctor/nutritionist is strict. 3 days clears . . . 1 month 'modified solids' (mostly full liquids but he includes cottage cheese, soft cheese, refried beans). Then another 1 month purees where I can add in meat and some soft veggies and pureed fruit. Then I move into regular solid foods but certain things don't get introduced until later (like raw veggies 3-4 months out, etc.).
Thomas CPA 496 Posted August 17, 2011 My doctor told me when I was released to go ahead and include soft foods like apple sauce, easy scrambled eggs, cottage cheese. Basically he said if I can puree it I can have it. See him tomorrow for post op visit and staple removal. My concern is having lost 23 pounds and only two weeks post op but I feel good, can't wait to get back to gym and tennis.
Forensikchic 528 Posted August 19, 2011 I just came from my two week follow up from surgery. My doctors orders are one week Clear Liquids, one week clear add Protein Shakes and the third week I can add cheese, yogurt, milk, cottage cheese plus full liquids... anything that I COULD drink through a straw, just dont use a straw (purees). Weeks 4 and 5 are soft foods. Then at about 6 weeks I can add raw veggies. Then after 8 weeks I can add nuts, seeds, shrimp and ham (not deli). I am so excited that I can start eating cheese and milk and yogurt! Wooohooo!
