I have only lost about 5lbs since July 25th. And im getting so discouraged because i see how everyone is losing maybe a lb a day or so. I just changed my PPI from Prevacid to Prilosec because ive had major hunger issues. I haven't gained any weight thank goodness, but losing weight is like pulling teeth for me. And i know the first 6 months is when you lose the most weight right? HELP. Ive been walking, got a fitbit to track my activity during the day.

It seems to me like you are doing great! :D You have lost a significant amount of weight already and you are losing about 1 to 1 1/2 lbs a week. At that rate you WILL get to your goal. My doc said that most people lose all they will lose within a year and a half so you have plenty of time. My weight has come off slowly too but I am just over 4 months out and down almost 50 lbs. I am thrilled even though I have to fight for every lb I lose now. That's okay. We have the tools and the support and we just have to stay the course. You will get there!

Are you tracking your food? If not, try it. It really helps me. To see what I've been eating and doing for exercise the last few weeks, check out:

http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/21563-30-day-challenge-get-ready-to-kick-some-butt-here/

Lately, I'm the only one posting in the challenge thread, so you can easily see each day.

Last week, I lost less than 1 lb, but most weeks I lose a little more than 2 lbs.

Since I've been on solid foods I've gained about 4 pounds but I've been going to the gym almost everyday for 2 weeks now and I'm 4 weeks post op...its a bummer, but you gotta think long term. It'll come off even if it happens slowly. Stay active you'll do great!!

Hhmmm are you watching your carb intake? Between calories and carbs it can really throw you off.. I have hunger issues if I let carbs sneak in...

Hang in there, hope it gets better....

I try to keep my carbs under 40 but maybe i should cut it even more. I changed my PPI to prilosec hoping if i am having "hunger pangs" it would help. Anyone hear of that??

Wow-your calories and carbs look good to me and you are doing everything you are supposed to: tracking, exercising, keeping a healthy calorie and carb count. Everyone loses at their own pace. Every ounce is an ounce towards a healthier you!

I've only lost about 5 pounds in the same window of time. I stopped comparing myself to those who are dropping faster, slower or whatever. I hope to be occasionally posting here in 3 years and at goal. That will be my test of success, not how fast I get there. And, by the way, a pair of all cotton capris I bought around that time are too baggy on me now. So I'm not sure pounds off and inches off happen in the same window of time. Put on a pair of baggy pants and smile. You're doing things right and the weight will come off.

Chin up, it could be losts worse. I had my surgery about the same time as you and I have only lost 32 pounds. and I have lost only 4.2 pounds since July 25th! Like someone else said though I seem to be losing inches at a different rate than pounds! I just bought some size 10 jeans about 2 weeks ago and they are loose already. It is hard not to get discouraged, especially when we feel like we took such drastic measures it seems the weight loss would be more drastic as well. I just try to keep doing what I know I need to do with food and exercise. It will happen at it's own pace. it is hard not to compare yourself to others though. But nothing productive comes from getting discouraged. All we can really control is how we let it affect us! Good luck and keep your chin up! We will get there eventually!

I am with you in the slow loser club. I average about 5 lbs a month. Average. This month I lost 3 lbs the first week, have not done anything the past 2! It's frustrating but I'm trying to learn not to sweat it. Trying. Adding insult to injury, my husband loses about 8lbs a month. He's almost caught up to me in actual weight. (meaning we almost weigh the same) If he catches me, hell hath no fury. LOL

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
