Scared to start Soft Foods

Recommended Posts

I'm 25 days post op and am supposed to start "soft foods" this week. I've been on mushies for awhile now and I have to admit that I'm kinda scared to start eating regular food. It's been so long since I've had any regular food that I'm worried it's going to hurt or give me a bathroom problem.

Any suggestions on some easy soft foods to start out on? I'm currently eating refried Beans, veggie Soups, oatmeal, applesauce, eggs, etc.

This might be a dumb question but are you eating yogurt? I find that it tastes good, is high in Protein and goes down pretty smoothly. If you are not already eating greek yogurt, I would try Yoplait Greek or Chobani. I like them both. Good luck!

In my nutrition class, they recommended 'testing' foods by adding only one new food every few days, to make sure that it agrees with you. if you add too much back in at once and then have an issue, you won't know what bothered your sleeve.

I am 7 months out and still have days of difficulty with food sitting well with my tummy! When I find something that is good Protein and sits well in my tummy, I tend to stay with it! Fat Free cottage cheese.... I eat every single day. I love it.. but, I cant do yogart... have tried several different kinds of yogart and just cant. I cant do a pot roast or steak but I love beef Jerky.... It is totally odd what does and does not sit well, or taste well now...

chicken and turkey have always been good for my tummy and protien/calories/carbs... so I stick primarily with chicken & turkey... rotissere and sometimes deli sliced... it works for me!

You will find what works for you by trail & error!

Refried beens, eggs and Protein shakes are still part of my diet!
